Flower Delivery Hours: Friday, June 13, 2025, from 9AM until 4PM Funeral Service: Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 12 Noon, Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3218 21st St, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401. Ms. Reed will lie in state at the church from 11AM until 12 Noon. Rev. Lorenza James will officiate. Burial: Cedar Oak Memorial Park, 1401 Mimosa Park Road, Tuscaloosa, AL, 35405. Kathelma Cox Reed was born on May 26, 1936 in Greene County, Alabama to the late Billy and Annie Blakley Cox. At a young age, the family moved to Columbus, Mississippi where she graduated from Union Academy/R.E. Hunt High School. After high school Kathelma attended Mississippi Valley State College in Itta Bena, Mississippi and became a licensed nurse. She did further study at Stillman College and in 1958 received the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from the State of Alabama. Kathelma became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1958. Since that time, she has been faithful in service to the Church and the spiritual community. She was a well-beloved mother of the Church. Kathelma will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Kirsten Dunn Green and Corben Patton (Ashley White) Green; great-granddaughters, Brooklyn Hazel and Dallas Rose Green and daughter-in-love, Myrtes Dunn Green. She is preceded in death by her sons, Wayne R. and Clyde K. Green, her brother, Samuel Cox and sisters Emma Cox Stevenson, Sarah Cox Gunter, and Mary Elizabeth Cox Hughes. She leaves to cherish her memory sisters Ethel Cox Jolly, Rosetta Summerville and QueenEster Stewart as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
