Mr. Bruce McGee Obituary (2012)

TUSCALOOSA Bruce McGee, age 60, of Tuscaloosa, died April 7, 2012. Services will be 12 noon Saturday, April 14, 2012, at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis L. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Coker Cemetery with Van Hoose & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing. Visitation will be today from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.He was a graduate of Riverside High School in 1969. Upon entering the workforce, he was employed at Druid City Hospital. To further his education he attained an Associate's Degree in Drafting/Design from Shelton State Community College.In 2007, he retired after dedicating 33 years as a tire builder for BF Goodrich Tire Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Local Union #351 of United Steelworkers Association (USWA). After retirement, he worked part-time as a school bus driver with Tuscaloosa City Schools. He wanted to give back to the community that so richly blessed his life.Bruce was preceded in death by his mother and father.Bruce leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Shelly M. McGee; one son, Keith McGee (Annetta) of Birmingham; three stepsons: Ivory McKanstry (Shelia) of Baton Rouge, La., Dawan McKanstry (KeShawnia) of Tuscaloosa, and Jameel McKanstry (Summer) of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Linda McGee Horton of Northport and Carolyn Ford (Erskine) of Tuscaloosa; three brothers, Wardell McGee Jr. of Northport, Thomas McGee of Memphis, Tenn., and Victor Scott McGee (Teresa) of Northport; three uncles, Ezell McGee (Mattie) of New Kingston, Pa., James Oatis McGee (Mary) of Pittsburgh, Pa., and LuCurtis Hardy (Emma) of Tuscaloosa; four aunts, Fannie Lee Prewitt of Tuscaloosa, Luddie Reese of Fairbanks, Alaska, Volena Gray of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mary McGhee of Bessemer; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Willie Mae Moore of Marion Junction; four sisters-in-law, Carol Gorman (Tommy) of San Diego, Calif., Bertha Bell of Mobile, Linda Moore-Cheatum of Northport, and Georgia Turner Moore of Safford; two brothers-in-law, Robert Moore of Phoenix, Ariz. and Berry Moore Jr. (Vicki) of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
