TUSCALOOSA Edith Elizabeth Whittaker, age 84, of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Gary, Ind., died Dec. 8, 2011, at Glen Haven Health & Rehabilitation in Northport. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Earl Whittaker; her son, Pastor Robert Darrell Whittaker; her sisters, Julia Shivers, Marjorie Redmond, and Louise Baker; her brothers, Perry Berry Jr., and George Berry; and stepmother, Astoria Berry.Her loving memory will be carried on in the hearts of her devoted daughter, Dr. Sharon Whittaker Davis (Frank) of Tuscaloosa; ?CPSadopted?i? 1/2i? 1/2 children, Niecy and Kelvin Wright of Northport; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Anthony of Gary, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Sandra Whittaker of Oxen Hill, Md.; four grandchildren, Corey, Robert Quentin, Steven, and Rachelle Sutterfield (Thomas); nine great-grandchildren, Jamaal, Kalia, Tenay, Amaya, Jaali, Thomas, Kamari, Jasmine, and Jailyn of Washington, D.C.; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who will miss her beyond words.Funeral services will be offered in celebration of Edith Whittaker's life 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Daystar Family Church, 3975 Watermelon Road in Northport. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, 5434 Old Birmingham Highway in Tuscaloosa with Van Hoose & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing. Visitation will be today from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, 2615 Stillman Boulevard in Tuscaloosa.
